Gallery One62 Islamic Calligraphy Exhibition with a competition focusing on Islamic Calligraphy held in Auburn Sydney

Gallery One62 is a privately owned art gallery based in Auburn Sydney that has been supporting local and international artists since 2018. They have held solo exhibitions for a number of local artists as well as poets and musicians while also showcasing group shows for local together with international artists. Managed by Mr Shahid Malik and crated by Mrs Azlin Ali and Mrs Farah Khan.

On 23rd May 2021, Gallery One62 closed it's Islamic Calligraphy Exhibition with a competition focusing on Islamic Calligraphy. Held at the gallery, the top 10 finalists had to write words with a time limit of an hour. The words were 'Allahuakhbar' and the second word was based on the finalist's choice.

Jalal Pouramini, a renowned Iranian artist, was the judge of this competition. Having had his works on the Imam Hussein Shrine and other Masjids in Iran, Mr Pouramini judged the works of the finalists based on creativity and precision. Besides him was Mr Shahid Malik, the gallery Manager, and Mrs Zainab Umme Rizvi.

The first cash prize of $500 was won by Reza Taghipour, runner up was Mujtaba Ashrafi and the third was Sithi Thasleema. The finalists ranged from amateur to professional artists. Among them was 10 year old Yashal Ali who flew all the way from Melbourne just to compete on the exhibition day.

Gallery One62, together with all the sponsors, came together to ensure the success of this event. The major sponsor was Shahi Frozen Foods together with Medical IT, Gupshup Sydney, Malaysian Groceries, Freedom Care, Monz Fashion Boutique, Sydney Forex, Cookania, Aussie-Asian Edu, Student Biryani, Sizzzlingo and Apni Dukan.

The media partners for this event were AMUST, Suniye Tau, Humwatan Media Group, Pehchan TV, Australia 1 Urdu, Green News, Rabitah International, Sada-e-Watan Sydney and D&D  Digital.

At the end of the event, all participants were gifted with a certificate from Gallery One62 as a token of appreciation.

Gallery One62 will continue to strive for Islamic Art and Calligraphy while promoting a huge range of art as well.
