High Commissioner Babar Amin called on the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria
The High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Babar Amin is on Visit of Victoria. In Melbourne, on Tuesday, 30th March 2021, The High Commissioner of Pakistan Mr. Babar Amin called on the Honourable Linda Dessau AC, Governor of Victoria to discuss bilateral relations and promotion of multifaceted cooperation between Victoria State and Pakistani provinces. He briefed the Governor about High Commission’s initiatives to strengthen institutional linkages between Pakistan and Australia in the areas of economic, trade, agriculture, IT, education, health and scientific cooperation.
The High Commissioner Babar Amin also apprised the Governor on
the significant role played by Pakistani Community in Victoria in many fields
as well as their contribution in the relief efforts during the Covid-19
pandemic. The Governor was also briefed about the business and investment
opportunities in Pakistan.
The Governor the Honourable Linda Dessau
AC,agreed on the potential of cooperation between Victoria State and Pakistani
provinces. She appreciated the formation of Australia-Pakistan Friendship Group
in the Parliament of Victoria as well as a similar group in the Australian
Parliament. The Governor inquired about the Covid-19 situation in Pakistan and
how the two countries could collaborate in sharing best practices, management
of pandemic and the related research.
The Governor Hon. Linda Dessau AC also mentioned a number
of high-quality education and health sciences institutions in Victoria, which
could cooperate with Pakistani counterpart institutions in the areas of
academic and research collaboration.
The High Commissioner was
accompanied by Mrs. Uzma Babar in the meeting.
