COVID-19: Pakistani Community Participation in Relief Efforts

The High Commissioner Babar Amin held Video Conference with Pakistani Community Members from Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania to coordinate relief work in the wake of COVID-19 pandemic. On Monday, 20th April 2020, as part of the series of Video Conference meetings with the Community in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the High Commissioner, Mr. Babar Amin, held a meeting with the Pakistani community members from Victoria, Queensland, South Australia, Western Australia, Northern Territory and Tasmania.
The Conference afforded a useful opportunity to exchange views on the difficulties being faced by the Pakistani community in Australia and the efforts being made by the diaspora individually and collectively to address them.
The High Commissioner Babar Amin apprised
the community members about the measures that the Government of Pakistan and
the Pakistani Missions in Australia had taken so far and the roadmap ahead to
help Pakistanis in Australia during these difficult times. He informed the
participants that the Pakistani Missions in Australia were making efforts to
coordinate efforts being put in by the various segments of the community. The
Missions were also in close contact with the local authorities for this
purpose. The High Commissioner especially highlighted the details of the
efforts being made for the benefit of the Pakistani students in Australia. He
also shared details of the coordination being made to repatriate those who
intend to return to Pakistan.
The High Commissioner Babar Amin again
applauded the Pakistani community for setting an example by abiding by the
rules and regulations put in place by the Australian government to get through
the pandemic. He appreciated the efforts that various Pakistani organizations
and associations were making to provide relief all around Australia.
The Community members shared details of the work being done by them from various
platforms. They also appreciated the efforts made by the Pakistani Missions in
Australia. The High Commissioner Babar Amin thanks Community for positive
feedback and relief efforts during the COVID-19 pandemic.
