Flag Hoisting Ceremony on the 67th Independence Day of Pakistan at the High Commission for Pakistan,Canberra

To commemorate the 67th Independence Day of Pakistan, an impressive and dignified flag hoisting ceremony was held at the High Commission for Pakistan on 14th August, 2013. The ceremony began with the recitation of Holy Quran. HE Abdul Malik Abdullah, High Commissioner for Pakistan to Australia, raised the green flag to the tune of National Anthem of Pakistan.H.E.Abdul Malik Abdullah later read out the Independence Day messages of President Asif Ali Zardari and Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif on the occasion.

Despite a working day, around 200 Pakistanis attended the ceremony. At the end of the ceremony, the community was showed a presentation of the new Chancery building under construction in the diplomatic suburb of Yarralumla, Canberra. Sweets were also disputed to mark the start of construction of the Chancery building.
