Pakistan Association of Australia arranged Pak Day Celebrations in Bankstown Sydney

This year a new initiative has been introduced by Pakistan Association Australia (PAA) to recognise the achievements of Pakistanis of all ages living in Australia in the following categories:
1. Education
2. Sports
3. Community Service

The aim of the Awards Scheme is to encourage and recognise the active participation and extra ordinary achievements of Pakistanis living in Australia in a wide range of educational, sports and community service activities.

 Sydney Bushra Salam received her special appreciating award for her Great Community Services.

For HSC high achievers which falls under the category of Education, recognition is given by PAA to those who score an ATAR of 90 or above in their HSC exams. This scheme is designed to encourage students to set goals, take initiative and commit to taking responsibility for their own learning whilst making their community proud.

Accordingly, the PAA recently awarded Certificates of Achievement to HSC high achievers representing Pakistani community in Sydney. The following HSC high achievers were invited along with their families to attend the Pakistan Resolution Day dinner with National songs was held on Friday 23 March 2018 at Himalaya Emporium Function Centre in Bankstown Sydney.


Radiah Ahmad scored an ATAR of 94.40
Ali Hussain Khan scored an ATAR of 93
Abdullah Khan scored an ATAR of 97.5


Note: Aliya Raza Zaidi and Zainab Rana were unable to attend the dinner but their awards were collected by their representatives. The interviews of the HSC High Achievers will be broadcast live by SBS Urdu in April.

The young stars were invited on the stage along with their parents to collect their Certificates and also to share a few words with the audience. The Certificates were

The young achievers and their parents thanked the PAA for introducing this great initiative which has been well received by the community. The young stars spoke highly of the unrelenting support and encouragement from their parents. They were open to sharing their secrets to success which were: setting goals, having a planned approach to achieving their objective and maintaining a healthy balance between studies and extra-curricular activities. Over 400 attendees at the dinner showed their appreciation of the young achievers by giving them a big round of applause.

In the Sports category, Amara Raja was acknowledged by PAA for securing a Gold Medal in tae kwon do. Unfortunately Amara could not join PAA dinner due to her commitments in Melbourne.

The PAA President Abbas Rana congratulated the recipients for being recognised by the PAA for their achievements. He reminded the audience to actively put forward the names of distinguished achievers from among the community so their contributions and efforts can be formally recognised by the PAA. “These Certificates of Achievement and Certificates of Appreciation are a great way to be recognised by the PAA and the Community. By putting a spotlight on the incredible achievements of these people, we hope their work will inspire and influence our present and future generations in Australia”, President Abbas Rana said.
