His Excellency Syed Ibne Abbas
Eid-ul-Fitr
Message from the Pakistan High Commissioner to the United Kingdom His
Excellency Syed Ibne Abbas
"On the joyous occasion of
Eid-ul-Fitr, through Sada-e-Watan Sydney, I extend my heartiest Eid greetings
to the British Pakistanis in the UK and to all the Muslims across the
world.
"Eid-ul-Fitr is an auspicious occasion and a day of gratitude for
the blessings of Almighty Allah that He bestows upon us. This occasion also
allows us to reflect and make a resolve to uphold the virtues of giving,
empathy and compassion.
"This year, Eid-ul-Fitr arrives at an important
juncture of our history. The nation is going to witness yet another landmark
democratic transition in Pakistan. The continuity of democracy and
strengthening of democratic institutions is a force multiplier for economic
growth, human development and social welfare.
"With joining the
league of Emerging Markets in 2017, Pakistan posted an impressive economic
growth of 5.8% during the last financial year. According to the international
financial institutions, Pakistan is poised to become the 20th largest economy
of the world by 2030. These positive projections revolve around a confluence of
factors like China Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), emerging middle class and
improved law and order situation in the country.
"Improved law and order
in the country is the result of countless sacrifices made by our heroes—both
civilians and armed forces—who laid down their lives in Pakistan’s fight
against extremism and terrorism. We owe them our sincere gratitude.
"Last year, the High Commission, under the theme “Emerging Pakistan”,
endeavoured to make the most of our 70th Independence Anniversary through
cultural outreach programmes. Throughout the year, showcasing Pakistan as a
modern and moderate country was our objective. For this purpose, events like
London bus campaigns, fashion shows, stage plays and installation of the
Quaid-i-Azam’s Bust at the historic Lincoln’s Inn were but a few mega events
organized by the Mission and overwhelmingly attended by our
community.
"We
are proud of our vibrant diaspora who have made great contributions towards the
socio-economic uplift of Pakistan as well as the UK. They bind our two peoples
together and further strengthen our socio-cultural and economic
ties.
"I wish you and your families a very
happy and blessed Eid-ul-Fitr.
"Eid
Mubarak!
"Pakistan Paindabad!"
