Ayaz is a senior comedian who is very popular throughout Pakistan for his performances in theatre, television and films. He was invited by Koocha-e-Saqafat to perform in Sydney for a cause. The program started with a stand-up comedy by Ayaz khan followed by a hilarious interview of a ‘Pathan’. Ayaz himself performed the role of the interviewee whereas Farjad Mahmood, a local artist, was the interviewer. After the interview skit, while actors were preparing for their next performance, Javed Nazar recited his own ghazal, ‘Khushboo hai her soo’.
Araia Syed
Araia Syed, a young Sydney artist, sang its English translation, ‘a fragrance is all around’.
Javed Nazar (President)
The next performance was a satire titled, ‘Pakistan Zindabad’. It was a scene of a Police Station where Police Inspector (Ayaz Khan) was informed by his informer (performed by Nabeel Khan) that he had arrested three suspicious people who claimed themselves as founders of Pakistan. These people were Quaid-e-Azam (performed by Khurram Qaiser), Allama Iqbal (performed by Farjad Mahmood) and Liaquat Ali Khan (performed by Khizer Anwar). All three suspects were brought to the Police Station for investigation. The message of this performance was to bring back the spirit of unity among Pakistanis as it was at the time when Pakistan was founded.
The final performance was a comedy mushaira which was hosted by Farjad Mahmood. Javed Nazar (as Jalee Amrohvi), Khurram Qaiser (as Tando Allahyarvi), Nabeel Khan ( as Chicho chichawatni), Khizer Anwar (as Tun Rampuri) and Ayaz Khan (as Kaju Kishmishi) read funny poetries in their unique styles.
In the end, Uzma Gilani (chief guest) and Ayaz Khan helped in auctioning the two art pieces of a famous Pakistani artist, Anjum Ayaz (pride of performance), as a fundraising activity. The audience participated very generously and helped raised a large sum of amount to support flood victims in Pakistan.
First Painting was auctioned and Prof. Asif Iqbal paid $10,000, sculpture calligraphy was auctioned and Dr Yasmin Rao paid $4,500. Both artwork was donated by Javed Nazar’s elder brother Anjum Ayaz who is world known sculptor, theatre director, painter and actor.
It was another very successful event of Koocha-e-Saqafat and a non-stop laughter for the full house audience. Koocha-e-Saqafat hopes that as it brought smiles to the audience of this event, it will also bring some comfort to thousands of people in Pakistan who are facing hardship due to devastating floods and desperately need our support. Koocha-e-Saqafat appreciates all charity organisation supporting flood relief activities in Pakistan.
