On the Eid Day, Foreign Affairs Minister Hon. The Senator Bob Carr Visited Rooty Hill Mosque Mount Druitt Sydney

On the Eid ul Fitr day,Friday, 9th August 2013,The Foreign Affairs of Australia Honourable Senator Bob Carr visited Rooty Hill Mosque, Mount Druitt Sydney.Honourable Bob Carr was accompanied by Federal Member for Chifley Hon. Ed Husic, Parliamentary Secretary to the Prime Minister and Parliamentary Secretary for Broadband. Mr.Ed Husic is Australia's first Muslim frontbencher. Mr Husic, 43, the son of Bosnian Muslim migrants, became the first Muslim to be elected to Parliament of Australia.

The President and other officials of Islamic Association of Western Suburbs Sydney Welcomed Special Guest Bob Carr and Ed Husic. The Consul General of Pakistan Abdul Aziz Uqaili with officials of Pakistan Consulate , Imam of Mosque Dr.Hafiz Shabbir Ahmad and President Pakistan Association of Australia,President Pakistan Australia Business Council, Chairperson Sub Continent Friends of Labor and President PPP Australia was also present with the other important community Leaders.

Foreign Minister Hon. Bob Carr briefly speak in the Mosque and said It gives me great pleasure to extend my warm wishes and sincerest congratulations to Muslims in Australia and around the world on this, the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. Eid Mubarak.During these days of celebration let us honour those who work to promote peace and better understanding between people.

Senator Bob Carr said Australia is home to over half a million Muslims, values the contribution our Muslim citizens make to modern Australian society.

As the spirit of Eid encourages the promotion of goodwill and harmony, let me also say my thoughts are with those Muslims in parts of the world affected by conflict. I was humbled to witness firsthand the effects of the conflict in Syria when I met refugees in Lebanon in May this year.The Australian Government is committed to advancing international peace, security and harmony, and respect for all faiths and backgrounds both at home and abroad.With these thoughts I offer again my congratulations on this special day. Eid Mubarak.
