68th Independence Day of Pakistan Celebrated in Canberra
On Thursday, 14th August
2014, the High Commission for Pakistan, Canberra, Australia, celebrated 68th
Independence Day of Pakistan with an impressive and dignified flag hoisting
ceremony. Ms Asima Rabbani, acting High Commissioner raised the flag and read
out messages of President of Pakistan, Mamnoon Hussain and Prime Minister
Muhammad Nawaz Sharif for the occasion. Defence Advisor Brigadier Muhammad
Asghar led the contingent of Pakistan armed forces and air force officers and
cadets to salute the flag.
An important element of this year’s flag hoisting ceremony was that a 28 member delegation from Pakistan representing 20 public sector universities attended the event.
