The Citizens Foundation Australia Launch in Sydney

Sydney – 16 November 2013 After two decades of successfully delivering quality education to the under-privileged children of Pakistan and establishing Chapters globally in USA, UK, Canada, Italy, UAE Singapore and Bahrain, The Citizens Foundation (TCF) was formally launched in the heart of Sydney, Australia.

This event was hosted by The Citizens Foundation Australia team and included likeminded professionals who are passionate about battling illiteracy and reducing gender inequality in Pakistan. Guests at the event included Dr. Mehreen Faruqi, Member of NSW Legislative Council, Mr Shiffat Ahmad Kaleem, Consul from the Pakistan Consulate Sydney and Peter Hasko, President of Harvard University Alumni for Australasia.

The evening began with a brief presentation by the TCF Team on the devastating state of education in Pakistan and the significance it has on our future as global citizens. This was followed by a brief talk by Dr. Faruqi who congratulated TCF Australia on its initiative and endorsed their cause.

"Gender inequality is what holds us back" said Dr. Faruqi and followed on to quote Malala Yousafzai "One child, one teacher, one book and one pen can change the world"

Peter Hasko, a passionate educationist, later highlighted the importance of education in uplifting communities from his international experiences

The launch of The Citizens Foundation in Australia is a small step that is needed to reduce the illiteracy burden of countries such as Pakistan.
