Eid Greetings Messages from the Dignitaries

Premier of NSW The Honourable Mike Baird MP

MESSAGE BY ABDUL AZIZ UQAILI, CONSUL GENERAL OF PAKISTAN / TRADE MINISTER SYDNEY, AUSTRALIA

On the occasion of EidulFitr, I am pleased to convey my sincere and heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis, Australian Pakistanis and their families, as well as all our brothers and sisters in faith. As we all are observing the holy month of Ramadan with religious fervour and piety, EidulFitr will be a time for celebration and happiness and for participation in various festivities with our families and communities.

While merrymaking, let us not forget our less fortunate brethren and the have-nots amongst us, whether in Australia or in Pakistan. It is our moral responsibility to support and facilitate those in need of our help. At the moment Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) in Pakistan, who have left their homes and hearth in North Waziristan or elsewhere, need our special attention. Let us share our happiness with them on the occasion of EidulFitr by wholeheartedly supporting the IDPs, both morally and materially.

In Australia, it is my privilege and distinctive honour to represent and serve the people and Government of Pakistan. Therefore, I cordially invite all Pakistani brethren as well as their families in Australia to visit Pakistan House (the official residence of the Consul General of Pakistan at 5 Ryrie Street, Mosman, NSW 2088) to meet and greet each other on the Eid Day between 4 pm to 7 pm. We all family members will be pleased to have your company on that auspicious occasion.

THE HON BILL SHORTEN MP

LEADER OF THE OPPOSITION
MEMBER FOR MARIBYRNONG

MICHELLE ROWLAND MP
SHADOW MINISTER FOR CITIZENSHIP AND MULTICULTURALISM
MEMBER FOR GREENWAY

EID MUBARAK

It gives us great pleasure to take the opportunity to send our best wishes to you, your family and friends as you celebrate Eid al-Fitr, concluding the month of Ramadan. Eid Mubarak. I hope your family enjoy this blessed occasion, particularly children for whom it is such a joy.

Many of those celebrating Eid al-Fitr celebrate it today, and many more will celebrate tomorrow following the sighting of the moon.

Eid al-Fitr is an important time of intense devotion; of spiritual renewal; of celebration and joy; and a time of thanks. This is a joyous time of celebration and unity, where the Islamic community comes together to pray and celebrate as one, to support those in need, and to promote goodwill and harmony across the world.

Australia is home to just under half a million Muslims, and over 1.6 billion worldwide. Throughout Ramadan this year, the prayers and thoughts of many Australian Muslims have been with all their brothers and sisters, families and friends throughout the world who face uncertainty and unrest. Islamic values such as selflessness, charity, compassion and justice are values all Australians share.

As you celebrate and rejoice in the glory and the graces of Allah, we wish you all the best on this auspicious occasion. Kul ‘am wantum bikhair.

It is my pleasure to extend my best wishes to the Muslim community for Eid in 2014.

Over the years Eid has become one of Sydney’s most anticipated community events amongst the rich diversity of cultural celebrations held in NSW throughout the year.

This is a day of celebration for the diverse NSW Muslim community and their commendable achievements during Ramadan.

Eid is a joyful occasion that marks the end of Ramadan and its challenging obligations. It is a time when family, friends and neighbours come together to celebrate their spiritual strengthening in a way that every culture and faith group understands by relaxing and having fun at this great festival.

Eid is also an opportunity for the wider community to come together build vital multicultural links.
The New South Wales Government respects the right of everyone to express their religious and cultural beliefs, whilst maintaining a strong commitment to shared Australian values. We recognise, and welcome, the vibrancy and benefits that cultural and religious diversity delivers to our state.
Eid Mubarak.

On this special occasion of EidulFitr, I am pleased to convey my sincere and heartfelt greetings to all Pakistanis, Australian Pakistanis and their families and friends, as well as all our brothers and sisters in faith throughout the world. As we all are observing the holy month of Ramadhan with its religious and good deed connotations, EidulFitr marks the end of fasting season and leads to celebration and happiness and for participation in various festivities with our families and friends.

As much as this is a religious and festive occasion let us not forget our less fortunate brethren and the ones involved in current difficult situations around the globe and those unfortunates who are going through unwanted wars in their countries. Even the recent loss of lives through the plane disaster of Malaysian Airlines and wars in Ukraine and Gaza Strip dampen our spirits and it becomes our responsibility to support and facilitate those in need of our help.

We are indeed very fortunate to be in this country so during this month of Ramadan let us all pledge our support to all those in need and pray to Allah-the-all-mighty to give solace to the grieving hearts and bestow them everlasting peace. Let us personally go out to meet those in need because such deeds will be remembered on our judgment days.

Someone rightly said that "the hand that serves is holier than the lip that prays. Thank you all.

Shahid Iqbal

God bless you all.
Regards,
