All Respected Friends, Colleagues, and Members of Parliament,
Asalam Alaikum and a very good evening to all,
It is a matter of immense pleasure for me to welcome all of you today for joining me and my team in honouring and appreciating the well loved and respected politician who is always in the heart of the people.

That person is of course, no other than the respected Honourable Shaoquett Moselmane, who has tirelessly served the people of NSW in various capacity within his long political career. His service to the people of NSW and in particular the multicultural community of NSW is well known. His passion and care for the Australian Pakistani community is well known of all of us. The event of today is just a small token of recognising that support and services and from the bottom of our hearts thanking him and humbly appreciating his services formally.

Mr. Moselmane’s political career is a story of determination, success and a sense of fair play and justice. His career is a lesson for many young aspiring politicians sincere enough to serve the people of NSW or Australia for that matter. His long career provides insight into how to achieve success and in the process break barriers.

It wasn’t always an upward path. He has also faced many challenges and injustices including cruel media campaigns to which he never surrendered and always succeeded as all communities stood by him as well as truth, justice and he overcame with honour and courage.

He launched his political career as a young and robust politician in 1982 to now remains as a member of NSW Legislative Council until 2023. During this period, he has taken many initiatives and I am afraid I cannot touch upon each of them.

He has served so many communities passionately, including first Australians and oppressed people stripped of their rights and lands all over the world. His service to all communities was recognised prompting by a former Dean of the NSW Consular Corp consulate general of over 100 countries to issue a letter of appreciation and acknowledgment to what he called “a man of all communities”.
But the Pakistan-Australia community have a special place in its collective heart for him. He has been in forefront always in organising support and charities be it for the victims of 2010 and 2022 floods or arranging wheelchairs for children with disability and supporting other charitable organisations and hospitals in Pakistan.
I would like to request all of you to join me in giving them a big hand as a small Thank you from us.

What I do recall from this visit is the passion of Mr. Moselmane to interact with the poor and to insist on going to the rural areas and villages himself to see ground reality and interact with local folks and villagers himself. He brushed away our concerns for his comfort and protocol ; today, many villages know of Australia because of Mr. Moselmane. He deserves a very big hand please join me.

In the end, I would like to thank Honourable Shaoquett Moselmane MLC once again for his hardworking for all the communities in NSW. His presence in the NSW Parliament is a great asset for all the Australian communities He is a true role model as well as a good role model as a Muslim contributing to the Multicultural Australian society beyond the call of duty.

We wish him further success in all his future passion and callings as I am 100% confident he will always do great in all events no matter what he chooses.

Finally, I would also like to congratulate his family, his father, brothers, sisters, his wife and their lovely son. They all played a role in his greatness, and I know all of them are proud of him, as he as we are of him.
