The Australian High Commissioner Zorica McCarthy visits Salim Ghauri House in Lahore

The Australian High Commissioner to Pakistan Zorica McCarthy visits the residence of Mr. Salim Ghauri, the first Australian Honorary Consul to the province of Punjab at Defence Housing Authority. She spent some time there and was impressed from Pakistani culture and family values. The Aust High Commissioner has been posted in Pakistan from August 2004.

The Australian High Commissioner Zorica McCarthy officially inaugurated the Australian honorary consulate in Lahore at Ghauris’ residence. Australia has appointed Salim Ghauri, chairman and chief executive officer of NetSol Technologies, as its honorary consulate in Lahore. McCarthy said Australia wanted to develop ties with the city of Lahore. She hoped that the consulate would help extend trade and cultural ties between Lahore and Australia.

Mr. Salim Ghauri said that his priority would be to enhance business ties with Australia. He added that the consulate would highlight the city’s cultural activities. He said Australia is a “very developed country” and Pakistan needed to enhance ties with it. Mr. Salim Ghauri has lived and studied in Australia for more than 10 years.
