Ghulam Ali Hasnani
22 August 1952 – 5 March 2016
Born in Karachi, Pakistan on 23 August 1952 to Mr and Mrs Hussainali Hassanali.
Ghulam Ali is survived by his beloved wife of 37 years, Dr
Qudsia Hasnani, his daughters Sana and Farah, sons in law Khurram Jivani and
Tareq Fancy and his three grandchildren Ameer, Aiden and Shaan.
Ghulam Ali
was a cherished brother to his four sisters, Mumtaz, Habiba, Fatima, Mehrun and
his brother Mohammed Ali and a much loved uncle to scores of nieces and nephews
residing all over the world.
Tragically, Ghulam Ali passed away suddenly from a Pulmonary Embolism (DVT) and was rushed to RPA Hospital but sadly he was unable to pull through. His family, his many friends, business associates and members of the Ismaili Community are devastated by the cruel and untimely passing of a kind-hearted, charming and generous man.
Ghulam Ali, a chartered accountant by training, migrated to Australia from Bangkok with his wife and two young girls in 1988. With the support of his wife, the family survived many of the challenges faced by new migrants and he built a flourishing jewellery business, while his wife established a successful Medical centre and an impeccable reputation as a General Practitioner. Together they worked tirelessly to provide a wonderful life for their daughters. Their eldest, Sana is a solicitor at J.P. Morgan and resides in London with her husband Tareq and their five month old son Aiden. Their younger daughter Farah, a school teacher, lives in Erskineville with her husband Khurram and their two children Ameer and Shaan.
Ghulam Ali lived his life to the fullest and with complete dedication, passion and joy. Whether it was his jewellery dealings, picking a winning stock, or making a property investment, Ghulam Ali was one of the lucky few who enjoyed going to work each day. His business associates will always remember him as a man of scrupulous honesty, integrity and fairness. Although tremendously hardworking, Ghulam Ali always had the time to help others and devoted years of service to the Ismaili Community as well as helping countless others in whichever way he could. Ghulam Ali also knew how to have a good time and loved the company of his many friends, often entertaining them at his home and was always the life of the party – often the first arrive and the last leave and always on the dance floor. He loved to stay active, enjoying tennis, swimming, travel, and more recently morning and evening walks with his wife.
Above all, Ghulam Ali was a devoted family man and was intensely
proud of the achievements of his wife, his daughters and sons-in-law. He was
always supportive, encouraging and loving. In the last years of his life,
Ghulam Ali discovered the joys of grandparenthood and beamed with pride as he
spent endless hours enjoying the company of his three small grandsons.
All
those who knew him, even briefly, were touched by his positively, his sense of
humour, his energy and unparalleled generosity. Ghulam Ali was truly one of a
kind and we were blessed to have known him. He was greatly loved and will be
immensely missed.
Rest in eternal peace.
