Beazley was Chief Guest of the ICPA 31st Iftar Dinner in Sydney

The Islamic Charity Projects Association (ICPA) held its
31st Annual Ramadan Dinner on Saturday, 8 March 2025. The program provided an
opportunity for members of parliament at a state and federal level as well as
ambassadors, councillors, religious leaders, community leaders, and entrepreneurs
to gather in the spirit of unity, reflection, and community during the blessed
month of Ramadan.

Mehio (President)
The host and President of ICPA, Mr Mohammad Mehio, opened
the formal agenda by welcoming over 350 attendees. Following this, the Chairman
of Darulfatwa, the Islamic High Council of Australia, Professor
Sheikh Salim Alwan emphasised the importance of moderation and mainstream
Islam in a time where secularity and extremism is prevalent.
Her Excellency, the Honourable Margaret Beazley AC KC, then shed light on the
hospitable nature of Muslims especially in the month of Ramadan and the
Honourable Tony Burke MP focused on the important and positive work that the
ICPA and Darulfatwa has continuously achieved over the years.
Representing the Australian Greens party, was Senator David Shoebridge who gave
a heartfelt message about the suffering of the Palestinian people and the lack
of calling out such inhumane acts by world leaders. The guests also heard from
the Honourable Minister Sophie Cotsis MP, the Honourable Mark Coure MP, the Honourable
Jason Clare MP, the Mayor of Canterbury-Bankstown, Councillor Bilal El-Hayek
and the Liberal candidate for Werriwa, Mr. Sam Kayal, each of whom thanked the
ICPA and Darulfatwa for its dedication and commitment to its community.
The ICPA thanks Allah for being able to continue its efforts and positive
impact in the community and looks forward to hosting its 32nd Annual Ramadan
Dinner next year.
