AFP Training Course for Senior Pakistani Police officers and Forensic Experts
A group of senior Pakistan
Police officers and forensic experts visited Canberrra to attend a two weeks
training course organized by the Australian Federal Police under its Forensic
Capacity Building Project for Pakistan. The main aim of the course was to share
Australian expertise in the management of forensic laboratories. The
participants of the course included senior police officers including Additional
IG Mr.Ghalib Ali, DIG Mr. Sajid Ali, SP Riaz Haider Bukhari, SP Dr. Mian Saeed
Ahmed, ASP Mr. Hassan Iqbal and two scientific officers from National Forensic
Science Authority of Pakistan.
Dr Muhammad Ashraf Tahir, Director General, Punjab Forensic Science Agency
accompanied the participants during the course. Dr. Tahir, who has more than 30
years experience in this field, has recently returned from the United States to
help Government of Punjab in the establishment of the most modern and well
equipped forensic laboratory in Lahore. The Laboratory is fully capable of
providing modern forensic services to law enforcement agencies for crime
investigation.
The High Commissioner of
Pakistan, His Excellency Abdul Malik Abdullah hosted a dinner for the
participants of the course on 24 April 2012. The dinner was also attended by
forensic science academics and AFP officers.
