High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez was Chief Guest at the Pak-Aus
Engineers Association Fourth annual event in Parramatta Sydney
The Pak-Aus Engineers
Association (PAE) successfully held its fourth annual event on
October 18, 2024, at the Parramatta Square Business Events Centre. The
gathering was a resounding success, showcasing the organisation's achievements
and featuring a valuable panel discussion.
We were honoured to host distinguished guests, including
The His Excellency Mr. Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri (High
Commissioner of Pakistan), Hon. Shaoquett Moselmane (Former MLC), Hon. Julia
Finn (MP Granville), Mr. Qamar Zaman (Consul General of Pakistan Sydney), Mr.
Christopher Marquis, Adrian Cormick, Iftikhar Rana and other esteemed community
leaders. The event was hosted by PAE's General Secretary, Fuad Ahmed, and began
with the recitation of the Holy Quran by Molana Nazir-Ul-Hasan Thanvi Saheb,
followed by the National anthems of Pakistan and Australia.

Ali Khan, warmly welcomed the guests, while Vice President, Mr.
Khalid Javed, elaborated on the organisation's purpose and objectives. The
highlights of the organisation's activities since the last event in 2023 were
presented, including insightful discussions from our esteemed guests.
Christopher Marquis spoke on biomanufacturing, Adrian Cormick provided valuable
insights on successfully navigating the Australian business market, and
Gaudioso Jr. Balot shared the achievements of Sydney's migrant engineers.

Fuad Ahmed presented
a tribute to Pakistani engineers who have achieved global recognition,
highlighting notable figures such as Dr Abdul Qadeer Khan for his contributions
to Pakistan's nuclear program, Dr Abdus Salam (Nobel Prize in Physics), Dr
Nasim Ashraf (former head of the Pakistan Cricket Board), Dr Samar Mubarakmand (nuclear program contributions), and Salim
Ghauri (CEO of the global IT conglomerate Netsol).

Following this segment, Shujaat
Syed, a PAE Executive Committee member, facilitated a panel discussion
featuring Chris Marquis, Professor Rahat Munir, Dr. Khurram Kiani, Arshad
Mahmood, and Fuad Ahmed, who effectively addressed questions from the audience.
The final segment before the awards included guest speakers
sharing their experiences, with Professor Rahat Munir, Hon. Shaoquett
Moselmane, Mr. Qamar Zaman, and Hon. Zahid Hafeez Ch offering their insights.
Following the speeches, gift hampers and shields were presented to our
sponsors, who have been instrumental in supporting PAE's noble cause. The
sponsors included Eastern Engineering, ARL Laboratory, Axial Construction, Masscon, Cocoon SDA Care, ZAMR Engineering, Chief Capital
Corp, Physio Goals, Juris Australia, Superfive, Hort
Enterprises, and FNF NSW.
The awards segment recognised professionals for their
contributions to the engineering field, culminating in two-lifetime achievement
awards: one for community service and another for engineering services. The
25-plus years of service awards were presented to Dr Sharif Misbahuddin
Ahmed, Dr Khurram Kayani, Dr Amjad Adil, Dr Ahmed Bilal Nasir, Riaz-Ul-Islam,
Tariq Hussaini, Faisal Ather, Imran Shahid, and Arif Jaffery. The Lifetime
Achievement for Community (Non-Engineering) Services Award was bestowed upon Ashraf
Shad for his long-term dedication to Urdu poetry and literature. At the same
time, Dr. Abdul Quddus Wazirzada received the
Lifetime Achievement for Engineering Services Award for his outstanding
engineering and project management contributions.
The event concluded with a closing speech from PAE
President Insaf Ali Khan, followed by a scrumptious dinner organised for our
esteemed guests.
