Father of Dr Sara Chaudhry, Retired Senior Bureaucrat Kunwar Idrees Passed away in Karachi

On Friday, 3rd May 2024, Retired Senior Bureaucrat, Former Chief Secretary of Sindh and Former Minister Kunwar Idrees passed away in Karachi. Kunwar Idrees was surrounded by his beloved wife and children including daughter Dr Sara Chaudhry who travelled in emergency from Sydney and met her father while he was admitted in leading hospital.

Kunwar Idrees was 92 but very active in his whole life. He visited Sydney Australia & many countries. He wrote few famous books and translated in English few Urdu historic books. For a very long time, Kunwar Idris was a regular columnist for Dawn. Kunwar Idrees was belongs from Sialkot, he was born in 1933, Idris had joined the civil service in 1957. He served as a political agent in the country’s tribal areas. During his 37-year-long career, he had served as federal secretary and chief secretary of Sindh.

After retirement, he was appointed as a Senior Minister in the Sindh Cabinet formed after the dissolution of Assemblies in 1996.

Besides, he assumed pivotal roles in organisations such as the Pakistan Automobile Corporation, Bankers Equity, Al-Ghazi Tractors, Orix Investment Bank, Hinopak Motors and Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association.

Kunwar Idrees was laid to rest in a graveyard in Karachi. A large number of high ranked Civil & Military officers, relatives and family friends attend the funeral prayer.
