Message of Love 2022 and Koocha-e-Saqafat Award Night at the Parliament House Sydney

Koocha-e-Saqafat, Australia organised another community event to spread its message of love on Friday, 17th of June 2022. Anjum Ayaz, an internationally recognised Pakistani sculptor and Uzma Gillani, a well know Pakistani artist were special guests on this Friday night extravaganza. The event was held at the Parliament House New South Wales. The program started with a short video highlighting the many successful past events organised by Koocha-e-Saqafat Australia.

Following this, Mr Anjum Ayaz performed a live painting show where he created an abstract art while the audience enjoyed the stand-up comedy by Javed Nazar with the Show’s host Nabeel Khan.

Everyone enjoyed the humorous side of Javed which came as a pleasant surprise to many even to those who know Javed for a long time. Mr Muhammad Ashraf, Consul General of Pakistan, during his short speech was prompt to notice and light-heartedly called him Javed 2.0.

The audience appreciated the many skills of Javed Nazar on this night. Javed recited one of his Urdu poetries which was translated in English on the request of the Guest of Honour, Hon. Shaoquett Moselmane, Member of Legislative Council of NSW.

Ms Aaira Syed

Ms Aaira Syed, a Macquarie University student, sang the English version of Javed’s poetry, ‘A fragrance is all around’. She also performed another song and received a big round of applause from the audience for her beautiful voice. Javed introduced this new talent as part of his many other community activities where Koocha-e-Saqafat provide a platform for new and young artists.

Javed Nazar also wrote a tribute to Uzma Gillani which was read by Arif Ba Halim. This created some emotional scenes in the audience. Uzma Gillani could not hold her tears when asked to come to stage and say a few words.

In the end, Hon. Shaoquett Moselmane, presented a ‘Pride of Nation’ award to Ms Uzma Gillani for her service to the community. He also presented a special certificate of

appreciation to Mr Muhammad Zahid, a long-time supporter of Koocha-e-Saqafat for his selfless and continuing support for community activities. The Consul General of Pakistan presented certificates to other supporters of Koocha-e-Saqafat.

The program ended with a draw for the painting of Anjum Ayaz that he painted live at the start of the Program. Anjum Ayaz presented his painting to the lucky draw winner Mrs Norin Zafar.

After the draw, Javed Nazar thanked everyone for their participation. Around 130 people came to the event which was a big turnout on a working day.
