The Managing Director of the Crowne Plaza Norwest Sydney Minhas Zulfiqar Killed in Karachi

Mr. Zain Sheriff informed Sada-e-Watan that on Wednesday, 20th March 2013, unknown people killed Managing Director Crowne Plaza Norwest Sydney Minhas Zulfiqar. Mr. Minhas Zulfiqar and his wife Razia were in Karachi on a short trip from Australia. They just came back from Umrah. According to the travel schedule, Mr. Minhas Zulfiqar and his wife were due back in Sydney this weekend on 24th March. This 2013, Mr. Zulfiqar celebrated new year's eve with his special friends Syed Zafar Hussain, Consul General Azam Mohammed and High Commissioner Abdul Malik Abdullah.

No one can believe this tragic unexpected news.Mr. Minhas Zulfiqar was a very close friend of all Pakistani and sub continent community. He was very popular in Australia. This news is a shock to the community and we have lost a very generous man, who was always ready to help those in need, be it for the flood appeal or any other cause. We will miss him. He was an excellent person and a good friend, who was always helpful and forthcoming to serve our community.

Australian Pakistani Businessman gunned down in Karachi

In another incident, on the night of Wed, 20 March,a middle-aged man was gunned down by robbers in Block-7 of Clifton Karachi. Boat Basin police said that Minhaj Zulfiqar, 55, was returning home after withdrawing money from a nearby bank, when unidentified culprits shot him dead and relieved him of possessions. The victim was settled in Sydney,Australia for many years, and was visiting with family after performing Umrah about ten days ago.The Police officer said that the deceased had to leave for Australia on this week.Police could not confirm any arrest in the ongoing wave of violence.
