Chaudhri hosted Pakistan Day Reception at Pakistan High Commission Canberra
To commemorate Pakistan Day, an Iftar
dinner was hosted on 22 March 2024 at the Pakistan High Commission. The
reception commenced with the national anthems of Pakistan and Australia played
by the Australian Royal Military College Band. Chief of Protocol Arthur Spyrou expressed best wishes for the
government and the people of Pakistan. High Commissioner for Pakistan H.E. Mr
Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri also conveyed the best wishes to the King and the people
of Australia.
Highlighting the significance of
the National Day, the High Commissioner paid rich tribute to the
founding fathers of Pakistan for their visionary leadership and determination. He
also paid tribute to all those who made huge sacrifices, including the ultimate
sacrifice of laying their lives, to make the dream of Pakistan a reality.
The High Commissioner stated that since independence,
Pakistan had undergone remarkable transformation and development. Highlighting
the country s investment potential, he added that with an expanding economy,
growing middle class, and young population, Pakistan offered enormous
opportunities for domestic and foreign investors.
Mentioning its snow peaked mountains, beautiful beaches, fertile
plains, and bustling cities, the High Commissioner stated that Pakistan is a
land of rich history, diverse culture, and dynamic people. He invited the
guests to explore the business opportunities, enjoy the beautiful landscape,
and experience the cultural diversity of Pakistan.
The High Commissioner also
highlighted the close and friendly relations between Pakistan and Australia. He
appreciated the close cooperation between the two countries, especially in the
areas of trade and investment, education, agriculture, water management, and
people-to-people linkages. He also commended the role of Pakistani Diaspora in
Australia which was contributing to the socio-economic development and
projection of the soft image of Pakistan.
Highlighting the rich cultural
heritage of Pakistan, a short documentary titled Emerging Pakistan was also
screened at the event.
The Australian Military Band
also played traditional Pakistani Mili Naghmas at the event.
The Iftar dinner was attended by
senior Australian government officials, parliamentarians, dignitaries,
think-tanks, members of the diplomatic corps, media, and the Pakistani community.
Traditional Pakistani cuisine was served for Iftar and dinner.
