Quran Presentation to the NSW Parliament

On the 26th of March, Shaoquett
Moselmane MLC moved a motion for a Holy Quran which was kindly gifted to him by
PBC,to be formally presented for the first time to NSW Parliament House. The
Motion was adopted by the Legislative Assembly, and it is with great honour,
humility and pride that Shaoquett Moselmane hope to present the Holy Quran to
the President of the Legislative Council, particularly in the presence of
leading members of the Muslim community. Hon.Shaoquett Moselmane currently
working on organising a formal presentation ceremony at NSW Parliament House,
with the date to be confirmed. If you would like to attend this momentous

NSW PARLIAMENT TO RECEIVE HOLY QURAN
Motion by the Hon. SHAOQUETT
MOSELMANE agreed to:
1. That this
House notes that:
(a) the Parliament
of New South Wales hosted an Eid Milan Party for Eidul Fitr in the evening of 6
September 2013, celebrating the official launch of the Pakistan Australia
Business Council, in the presence of the Hon. Amanda Fazio, MLC, and the Hon.
Shaoquett Moselmane, MLC, both patrons of the Business Council, and His
Excellency Azam Mohamed, Consul General of Pakistan,
(b) the evening marked the seventh year Eid has been celebrated in the
Parliament of New South Wales, an ongoing tradition, established by the Pakistan
Association of Australia,
(c) the Holy Quran, the sacred writings of Islam revealed by God to the Prophet
Muhammad during his life at Mecca and Medina, was presented to the Hon.
Shaoquett Moselmane, MLC, during the evening,
(d) it was suggested that the Quran be presented to the Parliament of New South
Wales to be available for the swearing in of new members, and
(e) the Hon. Shaoquett Moselmane, MLC, and the Hon. Amanda Fazio, MLC, with
honour, humility and pride will formally present the Holy Quran to the President
of the Legislative Council.
2. That this House notes the significance of the Australian Islamic Community and the Holy Quran.
