hosted Dinner in the honour of 3 Pakistani Bankers
With the guidance
of Habib Bank of Pakistan, Habib Finance Australia started operations
in March 1987 with Shuja ul Hassan as Executive Director, Rana Rashid as General
Manager, Noor Ahmed as Chief Dealer and Khawaja Haroon Rashid as Manager
of International Affairs. Mr. Rana Rashid and Mr Rao Noor Ahmad are settled in
Sydney as Australian citizens. Khawaja Haroon Rashid also holds dual
Nationality of Australia & Pakistan.
Khawaja
Haroon Rashid joined HBL in 1968 and after 38 years of service, he retired in
2006 as Executive Vice President. During this period, he served 16 years
overseas. Khawaja Haroon Rashid worked in Singapore, Paris and Australia and on
his transfer to Pakistan in Nov 1992, he worked as Zonal Chief then Regional Chief
for different Regions of Pakistan. Finally, Khawaja
Haroon Rashid retired as Regional Chief Sahiwal Division & settled in
Lahore. Recently Khawaja Haroon Rashid permanently moved back to Sydney so his
friends are very happy and hosting events in his honour.
On Monday, 3rd
June 2024, the President Pakistan Australia Business Council Mr. Iftikhar Rana
hosted an appreciation dinner in the honour of 3 former executives of Habib
Finance Australia, Mr. Rana Rashid, Rao Noor Ahmed and Mr. Haroon Rashid
Khawaja. The dinner was held at the Thai Garden Restaurant Auburn and attended
by famous members of the Australian Pakistani community.
The PABC
dinner was to honour the three bankers who started Habib Finance Australia
Limited. Mr. Rana Rashid was the pioneer and General Manager. Mr. Noor Ahmed
was the Chief Dealer and Khawaja Haroon Rashid was responsible for Foreign
Exchange, Internal Banking and back office. The operation ran successfully and
with highly profitable for six years. Later it was closed down on the
instructions of management.
The General Secretary
of PABC Mr Ashraf Chohan welcomed all guests and gave brief details about the activities
of the Pakistan Australia Business Council.
Mr Noor
Ahmed, Rana Rashid and Khawaja Haroon Rashid thanked the business council for
arranging a recognition dinner on such short notice.
The
President of Pakistan Australia Business Council Mr. Iftikhar Rana informed
about the efforts of PABC and thanked High Commissioner Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri &
Consul General of Pakistan in Sydney Mr Qamar Zaman for helping and providing
guidance for increased Pakistan Australia trade & investment.
Mr
Iftikhar Rana said that since Mr Zahid Hafeez Chaudhri became posted in Australia, High
Commissioner is doing his best to promote Pak Australia friendship and trade.
Mr Chaudhri arranged First time in
Canberra, a Pakistani Mangoes show and this year on Sunday, 21 July Pakistani mission
is hosting a Cultural Show, Pak products exhibition and Mangoes display through
different stalls. This unique event will be held on Sunday, 21 July 2024 at the
Fairfield ShowGround Sydney. I am sure that public will attend this festival
and business community will be fully cooperate for success of this on Sunday,
21 July 2024.
Mr Iftikhar
Rana said that we are thankful to the officers of Habib Finance Australia for
helping the Pakistani business community. Mr Iftikhar Rana appreciated the three
Senior officers of Habib Bank Ltd who were instrumental in setting up the Merchant bank.
The
President PABC Mr Iftikhar Rana said that whenever any trade delegation is
visiting from Pakistan or businesspeople coming to Australia for fair or
exhibition, we always provide them full support and we will also continue this
good trend in future. Mr Iftikhar Rana said that we contribute many welfare
projects in Pakistan as per our capacity. We are proud of our achievements.
Mr Iftikhar Rana said that PABC with the help of Great friends, is establishing a
hospital in Sahiwal which will specially look after Maternity and heart
related issues. He thanked people who already donated for the Land and are
ready to give construction costs for the hospital.
Mr Iftikhar
Rana announced that all paperwork is finalised, been granted approval and InshaAllah,
construction of the hospital will be started in the near future.
