Prime Minister, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Premier of NSW, Minister of Citizenship, High Commissioner of Pakistan, Consul General and other dignitaries’ Eid Mubarak Messages

Australian Foreign Affairs Minister Senator the Hon Bob Carr Eid  Message

It gives me great pleasure to extend my warm wishes and sincerest congratulations to Muslims in Australia and around the world on this, the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. Eid Mubarak. During these days of celebration, let us honour those who work to promote peace and better understanding between people.

Australia, home to over half a million Muslims, values the contribution our Muslim citizens make to modern Australian society.

As the spirit of Eid encourages the promotion of goodwill and harmony, let me also say my thoughts are with those Muslims in parts of the world affected by conflict. I was humbled to witness firsthand the effects of the conflict in Syria when I met refugees in Lebanon in May this year.

The Australian Government is committed to advancing international peace, security and harmony, and respect for all faiths and backgrounds both at home and abroad.

With these thoughts I offer again my congratulations on this special day. Eid Mubarak.
