Machine Readable Passports Service Starts at Consulate General of Pakistan, Sydney

The High Commission for Pakistan, Canberra and the Consulate General, Sydney are pleased to announce that Machine Readable Passports (MRP) service has started in Sydney. The MRP system is already functional in The High Commission for Pakistan, Canberra since November, 2012.

Machine Readable Passport System has replaced the existing manual passport system. As per Government’s policy, every Citizen of Pakistan shall have Machine Readable Passport (MRP) for travelling abroad. The issuance of Machine Readable Passport is also complementing the Government's efforts to increase the national database and thus improve overall governance.  However, both the High Commission and the Consulate General will continue to issue urgent manual passports to applicants, in cases of emergency only.

Since MRP service operates on the principal of live data capturing (from Pakistan) the applicant’s presence (with required documents) is, therefore, compulsory to process the application.

Machine Readable Passport (MRP) Office Timings at the Consulate General, Sydney are:

Application/Processing from Monday to Thursday

0930 to 1400 hours

Application/Processing on Friday

0930 to 1200 hours

Applicants DO NOT require any prior appointment for MRP application. They will be entertained on first come first serve basis during the designated office time.
